Prepare in advance
A few simple preparations can make the power outage easier to manage.
Prepare your home
- Turn up the heating the day before if cold weather is expected.
- Lower the temperature of your fridge and freezer one day before the power outage.
- If you live on a high floor, make sure you have enough drinking water. You may temporarily have no water from the tap during the power outage.
Check your devices
- Fully charge your phone, tablet, laptop and power bank.
- Fully charge your electric car before the power outage.
- Inform your alarm monitoring company about the power outage.
- If you have sensitive devices, such as a computer or television, protect them from power fluctuations.
Arrange backup power if needed
Do you depend on electricity? Consider renting an emergency generator to provide temporary power during the outage.
On the day of the power outage
Avoid use the lift
Do not use the lift shortly before the electricity is switched off. This helps prevent getting stuck inside. Please note that hallway and entrance lighting may also be unavailable.
